Artificial intelligence is important in education

Navigation and service

As a branch of AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP) enables the machine processing of natural language. NLP-based systems are therefore particularly suitable in school education, whose core mission is to impart language skills and text skills.

Example 1: Digital learning environments

A provider of educational media is already experimenting with an AI-based web application in which pupils can work on word tasks given by the teachers online. The system goes far beyond simply selecting pre-formulated answers: the AI understands freely written answers, classifies them in terms of content, evaluates them and then gives individual feedback.

Conceivable scenarios represent the query of knowledge, text comprehension, foreign language skills or the application of grammatical rules. Spelling and grammatical errors are automatically recognized and corrected. The big advantage: Every student is equally supported in their learning process by receiving direct feedback from the AI and the burden on teachers is relieved.

Example 2: Learning Analytics

Individualized learning profiles highlight the respective strengths, weaknesses and progress of the learner and help to identify them. In order to respond to these learning needs, the AI itself compiles individualized tasks and materials based on the learning profile. Learners can use their strengths to develop subject areas.

The flexibly adapted composition also reduces the effort involved in creating the learning content for different levels of ability.
