How do auto detailers clean windows
How often to clean in your car - and the right way!
If we were to tell you that there is a room where people eat, sleep, and spend hours a day, you would probably assume that it is cleaned quite often. But when it comes to the interiors of our cars, that's not always the case!
TODAY, Home asked Christian Newman, a professional auto detailer and owner of C&J Automotive Detailing in Slidell, Louisiana, how to clean like a pro. He has some great tips for keeping vehicles looking like new.
How often should you clean?
Newman suggests going through the steps about once a month, or as needed. If you have pickups, carpools, and sports practices on the horizon at school, do this up to twice a month.
President of the International Detailing Association. Michael Dickson, recommends professional detailing about twice a year.
What should i do?
1. vacuum Carpet, floor mats, upholstery, cup holders and other compartments. To remove pet hair, wipe the area with a dry kitchen glove or use a pet rock to grab invisible hair and fur from carpets and upholstery.

2. “Door jamb are one of the first parts of a car you see when you walk in, so keep them clean, ”Newman said of the hinges, bolts and nuts that hold the door in place. Wipe with a microfiber cloth dampened in a diluted mixture of all-purpose detergents. Newman recommends Blue Max all-purpose cleaners and degreasers.
Using a section of the cloth at a time, wipe the entire door jamb: around the edges, under the door, the hinges, and where the door meets the body. Watch out for areas that hold moisture as they often have mold and mildew.

3. Wipe them all off hard vinyl Areas with a clean microfiber cloth dampened in an all-purpose cleaning solution. This includes the dashboard, instrument panel, compartments, door handles, vinyl on doors, seat belt connections, glove box, side compartments in doors, gear and steering wheel.
To clean the gap between the steering wheel and the steering column, slide a damp microfiber cloth between the two parts and remove dust and dirt. If the cloth is dirty, rinse it in clean water and moisten it again with cleaning solution. Use a dry 1-inch round brush to clean crevices that the microfiber cannot reach.

3. Use a protective layer to dress up hard vinyl Surfaces. Moisten a clean, all-purpose microfiber cloth with satin vinyl pads (such as Car Brite Special Protect All or ArmorAll). So you can control where the product goes. Wipe down any hard vinyl surfaces but avoid the steering wheel. (It makes the steering wheel too smooth to hold on to.)

4. Spray Cup holder with cleaning solution. Scrub the inside with a brush and wipe the cup holder with a damp microfiber cloth.
5. Cleaning Windows and mirrors with a microfiber cloth specially made for glass. Fold the cloth in quarters. Spray the window with auto window cleaner (yes, it's different from Windex!).
To avoid streaking, wipe the window horizontally when cleaning. Polish with a dry part of the cloth and wipe vertically to avoid streaks. It's easier when you want to use one cloth to clean and another to polish.

6. Cleaning Leather or vinyl upholstery with a lotion-based cleaner that is suitable for leather. (Note: leather cleaner can be used on vinyl, but vinyl cleaner cannot be used on leather.)
“Leather is skin and just like our skin, it needs moisture; So use lotion based cleaners, ”Newman advised. “Never use water or aqueous cleaners on leather. These can split, tear and dry out the leather. "

Fabric upholstery can be cleaned selectively with a solution of Tide Plus Bleach Alternative and water. (Add just a squirt of the solution; enough to make the water soapy.) Soak a microfiber cloth in the solution, wring it out, and blot it off. In the case of stubborn stains, work the stain lightly with a scrubbing brush and a little soap solution. Suck off the cleaning solution with a wet / dry vacuum. To rinse off, spray the area lightly with clear water and immediately vacuum it off with a wet / dry vacuum. Allow to air dry in front of the car.

7. Remove Foot mats and wash with a soapy solution, brush to clean difficult areas. Do the washing up. Let it dry in the car before replacing it.
8. Stain-clean carpet With a car carpet cleaner if necessary, but leave the deep cleaning to the professionals.

"Thoroughly clean the carpet once a year, but get a professional to do it," Newman said. "Too often do-it-yourselfers wet the carpet too much, soaked the pad, and had mold and mildew problems."
