How do these fashion designers make money

Fashion designer training salary

What do I earn during my training as a fashion designer?

The training as a fashion designer takes place exclusively at technical schools, and there you do not receive any training allowance. But when it comes to costs, there are big differences. Public vocational schools, for example, do not take any fees at all, so the training is free. Private fashion schools, on the other hand, are financed by school fees that the trainees have to pay. On average, school fees are between 300 and 400 euros per month, plus admission and examination fees. You will also have to spend money on the materials every now and then. But you don't have to despair if you now believe that you cannot afford a school education. You have the opportunity to have your training financially supported - through BAföG.

BAföG stands for the Federal Training Assistance Act. Sounds complicated, but actually it isn't. If the fashion school is recognized by the state and your training is the first to be attended, then you can receive financial support from the state. Best of all, you don't have to repay the funds. The exact amount depends on the salary of your parents. The more they can help you, the lower the monthly BAföG payments. If you do not have the right to BAföG, then a student loan can be an alternative. However, you have to pay it back again.
